Parallel Approval. Once again

Hello,

I'd like to clarify how to organize parallel approval in best way. Imade it with Assign Flexi Task, but result wasn't satisfied. May be I doing something wrong?

Initial task: to approve form with several approvers at once. There are three outcomes are possible:

Approve
Decline
Request explanations

Approve and Decline are "final" decisions, means if form approved by all approvers it treated as "finally approved", but if somebody from approvers (even only one) select Decline option, then form treated as rejected and regarless from other approvers decisions it terated as declined.

In case of the "Request explanations" form returns to the initiator for changes.

My question is in realization "final decisions".

I've set "Assign Flexi Task", marked "Create individual tasks for all group members" checkbox. But which options to select in Behaviour?

Regardless from any of behaviours Declined scenario doesn't play. How to move workflow to other branch and to break approval process in case of such decision? Independently from the declined decision approvers receive messages for further approval. How to stop it?

How to start a workflow on other website?

Workflows not starting until another workflow is added and started

Hi All,

I wonder if anyone has seen this behaviour:

SharePoint Site with several lists / workflows all set to start when an item is added or edited.
Add or edit an item and the workflows fail to start.
Add a new workflow to the site set to start when an item is added ot edited.
Add an item and the new workflow triggers, so do the other workflows (the new workflow has 'kick started' the existing workflows somehow)

There are many (circa 150) sites so adding a new 'kick start the other workflows' workflow isn't an option. Anyone throw any light on this please?

USPS Web Request

Hello Nintex Community

I'm trying to integrate USPS api in a workflow to get package tracking information. I registered with USPS already and got a user id and password for testing phase.

When I manually enter the following directly in the address bar, it succesfully returns the tracking information.

However, I have not been able to get it to work using a Nintex workflow. I'm using a web request:

I'm receving the following error:

Error performing web request. Unable to connect to the remote server

Any ideas?

Connecting to Google Reporting API

I am trying to connect with the Google Reporting API, https://www.google.com/hosted/services/v1.0/reports/ReportingData .

The request are POST-based. See here : https://developers.google.com/google-apps/reporting/

The problem:

When using the Web rquest action, after defining the variables, and doing a test connection, I get:

Request failed with status: HTTP method GET is not supported by this URL.

Any ideas ?

List of all scheduled, errored workflows?

Is there a nwadmin, powershell, sql command that I can use to get all the Scheduled and or errored workflows for the entire farm.
We had a situation where we added a new server for project and it seemed to grab some of the workflow tasks but was not licenced.
Stopped the services but want to go back and review/fix any workflows that might have been broken.

Problem using "Wait for item update" action in reusable workflow template

Hi,

I am trying to use the "Wait for an item update" action in a reusable workflow template that is attached to the content type "Item". However, when I modify it to check the field "Modfied" (or "Created") and to compare it to a value I get following error after closing the action editor: "The following fields must be configured: 'Field' cannot be blank."

However when I have tried the same on a reusable workflow template on the Content Type "Document" this works fine without any errors.

Does anyone have an idea whether this is a bug or by design and whether there is a way to make the "Wait for an item update" action work in this scenario?

I have a problem with Call web service action:

Web Method: SetUserOofSettings

Soap defined by http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/exchange/aa580294(v=exchg.140).aspx

But workflow errored with:

Value cannot be null.
Parameter name: requestUriString

But there is no parameter requestUriString.

Could someone please help me?

How to create sequential approval document or list workflow ?

I create two forms in infopath and i want to create approval worklfow on this forms.

Forms are approved sequentially, means user want to get approve for one form first after that user want to fill second form and want to get approved.

Is it possible in nintex ?

Lazy Approval on Mobile Devices????

When users are hitting "Reply" on their mobile device, the To: address is not changing to the SharePoint incoming email address and the approval eemail reply is coming back undeliverable. This only happens on mobile devices. Users are able to use LazyApproval on their PC's and via Outlook Web mail.

Itemize People from a Group

I want to use the Create Item action to create individual items in a separate list based on all the members that belong to a particular group. That group is entered into a field onto the list item triggering the workflow. I know that the Flexi Task gives the option to 'create individual tasks for all group members'. I am looking to accomplish the same function but for the Create Item action. I understand how I can use the For Each action, but simply cannot think of a way to create a collection that contains the people listed in the particular group.

If the only way to do this is through calling a web service, then I will look into that, but that is not something we have used with Nintex here. I have tried using the Regular Expression action, with split, but it only returns the groupname.

Yes, and that is basically all information I have :/

I want the WebService to start another Workflow, but I'm not even close to it.
Verbose logging did not help at all, it only said 'Underlying connection was closed: An unknown error occured.'
This is my configuration:

User has admin rights, but I also tried with different users.
When I click 'Refresh' it just says 'An unknown error occured during the request'

When I open the path in my webrowser, I can see the WebService methods.
The application server log does not show anything I can link to this error.
The webfrontend log shows these three lines (domain is not the real one used):

WebRequest also aborts with this error message when targeting Sharepoint, while also all other webpages work perfectly or give specific error messages e.g. Unauthorized / Not Resolvable

Workflow Size and UDA

Hi,

Today I stumbled upon the following issue at a customer.

While updating a UDA, a workflow which was using the UDA was no longer able to be published.

The error I got in the ULS logs was that the UserDefinedWorkflowMaximumComplexity was exceeded.

Workflow dll failed to compile because it exceeded UserDefinedWorkflowMaximumComplexity of 7000

I solved this for now by increasing this limit.

This got me however thinking about the UDA. In this workflow, the UDA is referenced about 15 times. Does each UDA reference increase the workflow complexity? The workflow in itself is not quite complex (I think around 50 actions), but the UDA is being used a lot. Starting the workflow also takes like forever.

So my question is: how do the UDA and the WorkflowComplexity correlate?

How to setup a workflow to continuous ask for a value until the validation passed?

Dear all,

I am new to Nintex. I need to setup a workflow to continuous query a list's column A. When the column A's value is blank, the workflow will loop back and ask again (say 30 sec) until it get a value.

Or, in another way, the workflow will just stop and pending there until it detected that column A is being updated. Then it get the value and continue the workflow.

May I have a similar example to achieve above approach? Thank you for any input!

special chars in variable

We use the following steps in our nintex workflow

-query xml and assign the values to a variable

-send mail with the content of multiple xmls

Sending the mail with data included is not a problem.

However, inside the xml there are much chars like é and ë.

If a char like that is placed in the variable and the variable is putted in the mailbody we get a lot of question marks in place of the é and ë.

Error while using the "create item in another site" action

Hi,

I try to use the "create item in another site" action to create an item in a custom list in another sitecollection. This site collection is hosted in another webapplication. I always get the following error: Create Site Specific Item Activity Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Afterward I created a new custom list, to figure out if it has something to do with the list itself. the new list only has the standard title column. i get the same result. in other site collection I can use the action and i really don't know why it doesn't work this time.

The ULS log throws out 3 Unexpected errors when the action is executed (I removed our URL):

Continue on ToDo Task

I want to assign a to-do task that continues on 2 status as opposed to a single status (complete) as it is now. For example, I have a task where people can set the status to In Progress, Completed, Not Application. If They respond to Not Applicable I need to the Workflow to continue.

Use a workflow across site collections

I have a calendar on one site collection for which certain events need to be captured on to another calendar (difference site collection) and was hoping I could do this via Nintex WF, but I am yet to find a solution for this.

I am trying to read the version history for a single item in a list.
I am using the lists.asmx - GetVersionCollection webservice.

strlistID (string): List ID
strlistItemID (string): The id for item (eg: 123)
strFieldName (string): The field name

I always get back:
Item does not exist. It may have been deleted by another user.

any idea?

Starting a Workflow when a Document is Added to a Document Set

I need to start a workflow when a document is added to a Document Set. I've tried using the Item Child Count as the trigger, but its not working.

The workflow is configured to start conditionally when modified - Item Child Count (previous value) <> Item Child Count .

Can a workflow be triggered from Item Child Count?
