Nintex workflows for MS Project Server and security permission with Groups, Categories

    Hi all,

In MS Project Server 2010, there are 21 category permissions and 60+ global permissions in total.  Each resource can belong to more than one group, each group can be associated with more than one category, each category can be associated with more than one group, and each category can have a different set of permissions when associated with each group.

     So my question are:

    1. how Nintex workflows for PS can configure workflows with stages approved/rejected by one in seven groups as below?

    2. and does an administrator need to set permission for each group before the workflow is running?

Project Server 2010 creates seven default groups during installation:

    • Administrators

    • Executives

    • Portfolio Managers

    • Project Managers

    • Resource Managers

    • Team Leads

    • Team Members

    Categories are associated with groups.

    Hi,

NW4PS has a dedicated 'Read Project Server Security' action that allows you to read the various Project Server security groups from the server and leverage them in your workflows for actions such as approvals or notifications. The Read Project Server Security action also will take into account any departments you may have configured, allowing the groups to be filtered by department.

There should be no special actions required by the administrator, other than configuring the project server security correctly for the various categories for each project security group.

For further information on the Read Project Server Security action, check out the NW4PS manual and example workflows in the download section of connect.

    Hope this helps

    Hi Alex,

I found the information about "Read Project Security Group" action in the NW4PS manual and example workflows.

Thanks so much for your kind help.
